The day I almost quit teaching for good

Dear Reader,

There was a day — maybe you’ve had one too — when I sat in my car after school, staring at the steering wheel, wondering if I could really do this another year.

I wasn’t mad. I wasn’t crying. I was done. 😓

Done being overworked and underpaid.
Done doing emotional triage for kids with no support. 💔
Done being micromanaged and ignored.
Done pretending this system was sustainable for anyone.

I remember thinking: I’m a good teacher. Why do I never feel good enough?

And what I didn’t know back then — what I know now — is that it wasn’t me.

It was the job.

The system.

The box I was trying to contort myself into. 📦

That moment wasn’t the end of my career. It was the beginning of a much better one. One where I got to teach my way, set my own schedule, and actually earn a sustainable income doing what I love.

And here’s the wild thing:

There’s nothing magical about me. ✨
I just learned how to build a business that fits my life — not the other way around.

If that little voice inside you has been whispering, There’s got to be another way, — you’re not wrong. There is.

Next month, I’m opening up the doors to a BootCamp-style course that shows teachers how to build flexible, profitable private teaching businesses from scratch.

It’s practical, encouraging, and very anti-ick. And I’ll be walking with you every step of the way.

More soon.

But for today, just know:
You’re not failing.
You’re evolving. 🌱

And you’re not alone.

With love, respect, and appreciation always,

Rachel

5 most common mistakes teachers make when starting their business.

Dear Reader, Let’s talk about what I’m seeing everywhere right now. Teachers launching summer programs, posting flyers, sharing about them on their socials— and honestly, I love the energy. It’s exciting to see so many of you putting yourselves out there and making your first moves into business. 🙌🏻 But I’m also seeing some all-too-common mistakes — ones that could slow your growth, stall enrollment, or leave you feeling discouraged when all you really need is a few small tweaks. Here are 5...

Teacher Summer: Recovery or Transformation?

Hi Reader, Picture this: It’s the first week of summer break. You’re finally exhaling after another year of juggling 1,000 demands. You spend weeks recovering and coming back to life. But before long, the cycle begins again. Curriculum planning. Revamping lesson plans. Resource hunting. PD sessions. And let’s be honest—you’re lucky if you carve out two actual weeks off. (That was me, year after year. Sound familiar?) Here’s the truth no one talks about: That “summer off” teachers supposedly...
