Hi Reader,

Next week, the 19th episode of my podcast comes out.

Which feels kind of wild.

I launched this podcast on January 19th, and 19 has always been one of those oddly meaningful numbers for me. So reaching episode 19 feels like a small milestone. Not a giant confetti-cannon milestone. More like a pause-in-the-kitchen-and-think, “Huh. Look at that,” kind of milestone.

Very on brand, honestly.

So far, we’ve talked about a lot...

• Leaving the classroom.
• What private practice teaching actually looks like.
• Burnout recovery.
• Self-doubt.
• Pricing.
• Visibility.
• Business without abandoning yourself.
• Teaching versus tutoring.
• What you’re actually selling as a private practice teacher.

I’ve enjoyed sharing conversations with other educators and business owners who are building meaningful work in their own way, including conversations about life skills, confidence, burnout, self-employment, and what it actually sounds like when teachers rebuild their careers on their own terms.

And now I’d love to hear from you.

What would you like me to talk about next?

Is there something you’re wondering about privately but haven’t asked yet?

Something about private practice teaching that still feels fuzzy?

Something about leaving the classroom, staying in the classroom, recovering from the classroom, pricing your work, finding students, managing your schedule, navigating family life, building confidence, or figuring out whether this path is even for you?

I’m listening.

You can reply directly to this email and tell me what you’d love to hear in a future episode OR complete this short TOPIC SURVEY

I’m also planning to share more interviews over the summer, and I would love to include more voices from this community.

If you’re a teacher, former teacher, private practice teacher, education entrepreneur, or someone doing meaningful work that supports teachers, students, or families, and you’d be interested in being a guest, you can fill out this form:

No need to have a perfectly polished story.

Actually, please don’t.

The best conversations are usually the spontaneous ones. The ones where we can talk about what worked, what didn’t, what surprised us, what felt hard, what changed, and what we’re still figuring out.

Because that’s really why I created the podcast in the first place.

To have honest, grounded conversations about teaching, identity, autonomy, business, burnout, possibility, and the many ways educators can build lives and work that actually fit.

So tell me:

What should episode 19 or beyond be about?

Best wishes always 💕,

Rachel

One Reason Teaching Feels Impossible Right Now

Hi Reader, Quick check-in because a lot is happening this month AND this time of year! It’s about standardized tests, burnout, and why so many teachers feel like they have to work against the system to actually teach. 🤦🏻♀️ And more importantly, what becomes possible when you’re not. 👓 Why Teaching Feels Impossible Right Now 🎙️ On the podcast this...

Halloween can be a perfect time to market your private practice teaching and tutoring business.

Hi Reader, I’ve always loved Halloween! The creativity, the costumes, the excuse to eat peanut butter cups by the handful. What's not to love? But as a private practice teacher, I love it even more! Because between pumpkins and report cards is one of the most overlooked (and fun) ways to market your teaching/tutoring business … without needing a single social media post. Here’s what I mean: This time of year, your ideal client, the parent or caregiver of a student who might need extra...
